Home News & Events The Grand Opening of our Unique Room ‘A Quiet Place’

29th June 2023

The Grand Opening of our Unique Room ‘A Quiet Place’

On Friday 23rd June, we welcomed multiple VIP guests to the official grand opening of our unique special room in Maple Grove called ‘A Quiet Place’.

It was attended by over twenty people and included international guests Iris Drower and Mary Gale from the USA who are committee members of the International Association of Special Education, Dr Kevin Hochard Deputy Head of Psychology at Chester University, Penny Moon Founder of A Quiet Place, Paul and Annabel Graham, and several of our colleagues from schools in the area. They were all welcomed by Ben Reading our Head Teacher who shared our unique program where students at Maple Grove access a holistic action learning program. The main objectives of which are to improve wellbeing and to develop emotional intelligence in order to benefit learning and attainment.

We described to our friends and colleagues how A Quiet Place impacts the students, staff and school and provided information on how we can objectively measure the outcomes. Everyone was treated to afternoon tea provided by our wonderful catering department lead by Kate France and thoroughly enjoyed chatting to some students who have benefitted from engaging in the program.

It was such a pleasure to host and share ideas with so many inspiring people.
